False Claims Act

Doug Smith has experience prosecuting and defending cases seeking damages for violations of the False Claims Act.  For example, Doug has:

Defended litigation alleging false claims concerning government reimbursement for medical devices.

Represented a relator bringing claims for alleged fraud under the Paycheck Protection Program. 

While at the Department of Justice, Doug was Chief of Staff in the Civil Division, which contains the federal branch primarily responsible for investigating and litigating claims on behalf of the federal government under the False Claims Act.
